LIV HEYM, violin

Violinist Liv Heym pursues a versatile musical career focused mainly on chamber music and the approach of Historical Performance Practice. A native of Berlin, she studied the violin with Heinz Dinter, Karina Koorevar and Eberhard Feltz. In 2002 she was accepted into Ulrike-Anima Mathe's studio at the Hochschule fur Musik Detmold, where she graduated with a Pedagogical and an Artist Diploma. She moved to New York in 2008 to study with Daniel Phillips at Mannes College The New School for Music. Since September 2009 she studies Baroque Violin with Monica Hugget and Cynthia Roberts in the Historical Performance Program at the Juilliard School. Liv has participated in various Youth Orchestras in Europe working with conductors like Vladimir Ashkenazy, Philippe Herreweghe and Lothar Zagrosek. In 2007 she worked as a substitute at the Bochum Symphony Orchestra. Chamber music lessons with Eberhard Feltz and Hans Klaus had a major influence on her musical direction, as well as masterclasses with Andras Schiff, Bruno Canino, Jurgen Kussmaul, Philippe Graffin and Mi-Kyung Lee. Liv was also member of the Baroque Academy of the HfM Detmold since its formation in 2003 and performed works by J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel under the artistic direction of Ulrike-Anima Mathe and Gerhard Weinberger. In June 2008 she appeared as a soloist with the Baroque Academy.
